FAQs

I am a first time climber. How does it work?

The first time you come in, we will give you a gym orientation and safety training. We'll show you how to put on a harness, use our auto-belays, and get you started climbing. Anyone who is 13 or older can also learn to work the ropes (belay) and begin climbing on the top-rope stations. You don’t have to have a partner to climb on the auto-belay walls, but you do need a partner to belay for you on the top-ropes. LRCC does not provide people to belay for climbers.

What do I need to bring?

Comfortable clothes and a good attitude are the most important things! If anyone in your party is under 18 they will need to have their parents complete the participant agreement on our website. Climbers under 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult while they are here.

We offer snacks and drinks for sale, but feel free to bring a water bottle and your own power bar for extra energy while climbing.

Do I need to sign something before me or my child can climb at Little Rock Climbing Center?

Yes! Any person climbing, or assisting climbers must have an up-to-date Participant Agreement on file at LRCC. For those under the age of 18 this Participant Agreement must be filled out by their parent or court appointed legal guardian. You can find the online Participant Agreement further down on this page.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes that you can move around in are the best bet for rock climbing. Long shorts, exercise and yoga pants offer great mobility for the climber. You can wear your own closed-toe shoes or rent our climbing shoes which will give you a great advantage.

Do I need to have a partner or can I climb by myself?

You don't need a partner to get started rock climbing, but it is a great way to get have fun with friends. LRCC has 10 auto-belay systems that don’t require a partner to climb. Additionally, single climbers can be challenged by our extensive bouldering area which doesn’t require a partner.

How old does my child need to be to climb at Little Rock Climbing Center?

Kids must be at least 5 years old to climb at LRCC. They must be 13 or older to belay (work the ropes) for each other. They must be 18 or older to be at the gym without adult chaperones, unless they are enrolled in an LRCC program.
